Full time Mon – Fri – 35 hours per week with a 3:30 pm finish on Friday
Salary: £35k
26 days holiday plus 8 statutory

 
My client is a well-established leading training provider who offers a range of employment related training including Full Time Programmes, Apprenticeships, Advanced Apprenticeships, 24+ Loans and work experience opportunities for adults and young people. 

The post holder will support and guide a team of 7 finance and administration personnel. You will oversee the day to day operations of the departments and implement any chances necessary for effective performance. 

Candidates must also be ACCA and/or CIMA qualified. 

Candidates must be of a strong finance background and have previous experience with hands on staff management .


Main purpose:

• To lead on all areas of financial accounting, regulatory financial submissions, management accounts, budgetary controls, data compliance, statutory reporting and external and internal audits.

• To ensure key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, awarding bodies, funders and HMRC receive high quality information as required to ensure the company is not exposed to risks such as litigation, winding up orders, downgrading of viability and / or supervision.

• To ensure the accurate collation and reporting of compliance and financial data in all aspects of stakeholder information and regulatory requirements such as the ESFA.

• To manage the Finance and Support Services Teams to ensure that a quality customer service is given to learners, visitors, employers, partners and staff.

• To challenge all practices and procedures within own role and throughout the organisation, to contribute to and ensure continuous improvement and quality of provision.

Key responsibilities

• To lead on the budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes for the business, including consolidation and reporting for all cost centres.

• To ensure detailed budget monitoring reports are in place across all cost centres.

• Be the finance lead on a number of strategically important business projects.

• Providing analysis, insight and recommendations to improve performance against business targets, including presentation of management information to senior leadership on a regular basis

• To oversee all aspects of the companies funding contracts and ensure all processes, procedures and actions are effectively completed in line with regulatory funding rules.

• To effectively manage the Finance and Support Services team and facilities through effective training, support, monitoring & evaluating practices of individual and collective performances in line with company policies.

• To be accountable for payroll functions including ensuring administration of PAYE, NIC and timely reporting to HMRC.

• Oversee the administration of VAT.

• To manage, monitor, review and report on all existing third party suppliers in relation to business insurances, property leasing and business expenditure.

• To produce full management accounts in a given 24-month period.

• Maintain the fixed asset register.

• Lead on the maintenance of accounting records, procedures and systems, maintain robust financial systems and internal controls which are continuously improved to meet business need.

• To ensure short and medium term cash flow forecasts are produced and monitor actual against forecast.

• To ensure adequate banking facilities are in place to meet company requirements.

• Engage in ongoing efficiency analyses in all areas of the company including interpreting the companies’ financial results to management and recommending improvements.

• To review control of account and bank account reconciliations.

• To provide information for calculation of the corporation tax returns.

• To establish and maintain financial procedures and ensure that all relevant team members are operating in compliance with them.

• To prepare and produce statutory accounts and quarterly management accounts; liaising regularly with managers regarding income and expenditure.

• To manage all aspects of learner record processing in line with governing body regulations and ensure timely completions of learner record processing is conducted without compromising on quality, compliance and data protection.

• To ensure the most effective procurement strategies are applied which best meet the companies’ strategic priorities and needs.

• To lead the management team and organisation in matters relating to facilities and Accessibility ensuring that staff and learners work / learn in a safe environment.

• To facilitate and coordinate Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) audits; ensuring audit points are actioned promptly and remedial systems investigated and implemented.

• To perform random audit checks on all processes undertaken by staff that data input to the PICS database, to identify strengths and weaknesses, share good practice and introduce remedial action where necessary.

• To attend relevant management and/or board meetings as required and contribute to these meetings when required in the form of presenting and explaining key performance and financial data.
